Resumo:

The search for space-time variations of the fundamental constants has been pursued over the years to test our physical theories. Although most cosmological models assume that these constants are indeed constant, several studies have investigated their possible evolution—for example, variations in the speed of light $c$, the gravitational constant $G$, and the fine-structure constant, among others. Since the $\Lambda$CDM model presents certain critical issues, additional observational data involving cosmological model-independent approaches to cosmological quantities are required for a proper evaluation of the physical parameters and to avoid assumptions about the large-scale evolution of the Universe. In this context, Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs) have emerged as a recent astrophysical and cosmological phenomenon. FRBs are a class of transient radio events characterized by high brightness temperatures and durations on the order of milliseconds or less. Here, I investigate a possible redshift evolution of the fine-structure constant ($\alpha$) within the runaway dilaton scenario, as well as updated constraints on the photon rest mass ($m_{\gamma}$), both by combining well-localized FRBs with the Supernovae dataset.
